03/02/2009 - Art at the Mart launch for self taught artists

Art at the Mart - Exhibition for self taught Yorkshire artists
Saturday 16 May 2009
York Auction Centre, Murton, York
INFORMATION FOR ARTISTS
Cowbyre Artworks is delighted to bring this exhibition opportunity to Yorkshires self taught artists to show and sell their work within a busy and high traffic environment alongside other great local and regional artists. This is a great and very cost effective opportunity to show your work to a wider audience. The exhibition space is within the farmers market hall and we are allocated what is affectionately referred to by the centre management as Christmas Alley, a row of ‘pens’ with walkways between them. Each ‘pen’ has one back and 2 sides of railings (which can be utilised for hanging) at approx 5 feet in height. One 13-amp electrical socket can be provided per area but must be requested in advance. Artists may choose to use this facility to provide their own spotlighting etc There are 2 ways to show your work on the day:
1. Hire an individual ‘pen’. Full ‘pens’ measure approximately 5 m x 3 m and can be halved for those requiring a smaller display area. Please ensure you specify full or half pen when you book. Artists booking ‘pens’ must be in attendance or have representation on the stand throughout the event and are responsible for their own sales. In order to keep the costs as minimal as possible, artists needs to bring with them all tables, covers, easels, backing boards, trellis work, lighting etc. necessary to display their work. The bars to each side can also be used to hang work, however artists need to bring their own hanging equipment. This approach allows artists the maximum flexibility and keeps the cost of exhibiting down. A full pen costs £60 and half a pen costs £35.
2. Submit individual pieces, maximum 3 per artist, for display within the Cowbyre Artworks Open Gallery. To apply for this option artists must submit an image of the work to be displayed to Angela at Cowbyre Artworks to assess suitability before confirmation of your place is issued. Confirmed artists pay an administration fee of £10 per artist plus 15% commission on each work sold. All works must be delivered to York Auction Centre by 8.15am on Saturday 16 May and collected by 3.30pm on the same day from the Auction Centre. One further drop off date will be arranged before the event.
Cowbyre Artworks as managers of the exhibition, will pursue a rigorous marketing campaign to publicise the event which will include website promotion via www.cowbyreartworks.co.uk, press releases to relevant local, regional and national media, printed leaflet promotions, galleries will be targeted along with our registered collectors Important - How to apply
Complete the booking form which can be requested by email to angela@cowbyreartworks.co.uk and return to us by 31 March 2009. In order to be considered for inclusion within the exhibition you should send images of at least 3 examples of your recent work (these can be digital images, jpegs, hard copies by email or post), these will be reviewed by our creative team and successful applicants will be notified by Friday 10 April 2009.
If you do not have the technology to email images, please contact us, we always try to assist our artists. PLEASE NOTE: If you wish for your images to be returned enclose a suitable envelope with the correct postage. No work will be returned if the postage is not correct. Guidelines and Rules for Artists
