Yorkshires Major Art Fair Debuts in York
York’s Livestock Centre swaps animals for art as it becomes the unusual venue forYorkshires most diverse and exciting art show.
The event, ‘Art at the Mart’, makes its debut in York this May boasting displays from the regions best new, emerging, self taught and professional artists.
A unique event in the regions art calendar, more than 40 of the regions most promising artists will exhibit modern, traditional, contemporary and conceptual pieces alongside established and professional artists to show and sell their work in this unusual venue on Saturday 16 May.
Visitors will see stunning new works from local and regional artists in the form of ceramics, jewellery, ironwork, sculpture, paintings, glass, prints and giftware. With prices from just £2 to £3,500 this really is an opportunity for everyone to access great art at realistic prices or just take the opportunity to enjoy the work on show and meet the artists who will be on hand throughout the occasion.
The exhibition is the first in the calendar of York based art gallery, Cowbyre Artworks, specialist representatives of self taught artists from the region. Angela Kay of Cowbyre Artworks says ‘Bringing together new artists with more established and reputable artists has been hugely rewarding, nowhere else in Yorkshire is such priority given to self taught artists who traditionally can find it quite daunting and difficult to become established.
‘We are delighted to bring this exhibition to York for its debut, which is particularly fitting considering the wealth of talent in the whole Yorkshire area’.
By bringing the opportunity for artists to sell direct to the public, cutting out the ‘middleman’, there will be some great bargains to be had for those looking to start a collection or add new fresh talent to existing collections.
Art at the Mart takes place on Saturday 16 May 2009 from 9.30am to 3pm at York Livestock Centre, Murton, York and offers free entry to all and free car parking. Further details can be found at www.cowbyreartworks.co.uk
